Pipeline Rehabilitation with UV-CIPP Technology in Bogotá (DN750 – 900 mm)
Project: Pipeline rehabilitation using UV-CIPP technology
Location: Bogotá, Colombia
Technology used: UV-CIPP (Cured In Place Pipe)
Diameter worked on: DN750 – DN900
Success story in sewer rehabilitation without excavation
In Bogotá, Colombia, a successful sewer pipe rehabilitation project was carried out using UV-CIPP technology, an advanced trenchless rehabilitation solution to renew deteriorated sanitation networks.
The intervention was carried out on large-diameter (DN750 – 900 mm) concrete and HDPE pipes that exhibited severe corrosion, leaks, and structural deformations. To restore the hydraulic infrastructure, an internal structural lining system cured with ultraviolet light was applied, allowing a new pipe to be created within the existing one without the need for excavation.
Solution: UV-CIPP technology for pipe rehabilitation
UV-CIPP (Cured In Place Pipe) technology involves installing a resin-impregnated fiberglass liner inside the existing pipe. The material is then cured using ultraviolet light, forming a high-strength structural lining that restores the integrity of the sewer system.
Benefits of rehabilitation with UV-CIPP
- Pipe rehabilitation without excavation
- Reduction of costs and intervention times
- Ideal solution for large diameter pipes
- High structural strength and durability
- Elimination of leaks and infiltrations
- Extending the lifespan of the network to 50 years
This case demonstrates how trenchless technologies for pipe rehabilitation have become an efficient, sustainable and economically viable alternative for modernizing sanitation infrastructure in modern cities.
